Mandarin Grill + Bar | Hong Kong

Mandarin Grill + Bar | Mandarin Oriental Hotel | Hong Kong | 2015

Chef Uwe Opocensky of world renowned Michelin starred restaurant Mandarin Grill + Bar, commissioned Lok Ming Fung to make porcelain olive oil/butter dishes for the restaurant and to remake the vessel for his famous ‘Flower Pot’ dish – a beautiful salad arrangement planted in edible soil. The new flowerpots were made to look rustic and like it were plucked from the garden with chips and white chalky exterior appearance.

In 2015, the Mandarin Oriental celebrated their partnership with Art Basel Hong Kong by serving a special art inspired menu created by Chef Uwe Opocensky.
One of the courses, Warrior, features a commissioned stoneware ceramic tray where the chocolate terracotta army warriors are displayed in to the diner. The walls of the presentation piece is textured and coloured to resemble a stone-like appearance and to look like the excavation site.
