A Matter of Choice

Last week, I attended the Private View of Kevin Fung Lik Yan’s ‘A Matter of Choice’. A local Hong Kong sculptor, the works exhibited in┬áThe Rotunda, Exchange Square in Central were all new work based on ‘the challenges of the abundant choices that daily life presents and the inner conflict triggered during the process of choosing’. He used bronze, wood, granite and stainless steel to make his pieces. I loved the textures and rough cuts made from sculpturing the wood out of a chainsaw. His favourite material to work in is wood, as it has warmth and is an earthy material.

'Cell/ Selves' - 'There are always conflicting voices in our heads when we are making decisions.'

'Move on or backtrack'- "Just around the corner" How many times have we been told that we are nearly there when we are still far away? Should we just march on or turn back?
